       Which Proclamation issued accordingly to all the Counties Lib. X.

 

     on the Eastern Shore Prince Georges & Baltimore

    

     Maryland SSt

       At a Council held at the House of his Excellency Benedict

     Leonard Calvert Esqr in the City of Annapolis on Wednesday

     the 14th day of February in the thirteenth Year of his Lord-

     ships the Lord Proprietarys Dominion &c Annoq Dni 1727

    

                       Were Present

    

           His Excy Benedict Leond Calvert Govr

    

                   John Hall Esqr

                  John Rousby Esqr

       the honble Benja Tasker Esqr Members of his

                  Philip Lee Esqr  Lordship honble

      Charles Calvert Esqr              Council

    

       Upon reading the petition of the Inhabitants of the Upper

     part of prince Georges parish in prince Georges County

     Complaining of the proceedings of the Vestry and Church

     Wardens of the said parish as also the petition of the said

     Vestry in Answer to the petition aforesd and upon hearing of

     Council on both sides it doth not appear to this Board that

     the said Vestry have pursued the Intention of the Act of As- p. 197

     sembly Entituled an Act for dividing part of Saint Johns

     Parish in prince Georges County and for erecting part thereof

     into a new parish by giving notice to the Freeholders thereof

     to make Choice of a place to build and found a Church upon

     as that Law directs it is therefore Resolved that they ought

     to give publick notice to the Freeholders to appear for ap

     pointing a proper place to build a Church pursuant to the

     said Act and it is further the Opinion of this Board that the

     Scituation of the present Chappel is no ways Convenient to

     found or Build a Parish Church upon being too remote from

     many parts of the said Parish as likewise that it doth not appear

     that the said Parishioners have any certain right or Freehold

     in the Scite of the said Chappel and Ordered that the Clerk

     serve the said Vestry and Churchwardens with the above Re

     solutions of this Board

    

       Copy whereof was served accordingly

    

       Referred the Consideration of the Representation of Philip

     Lee Esqr till the first Tuesday in Iuly next at which time the

     said Nicholas Sewell Junr is Ordered to Attend
