His Excellency Acquainting this Board that the Shuano Lib. X. Indians not meeting his Excellency there Resolved that Israel Friend be sent up immediately to the said Indians with the following Instructions Instructions for Israel Friend from his Excellency Charles Calvert Esqr Governor of Maryland to the Shuano Indians on Potomack as followeth Vizt
You are to Acquaint them that you saw the Govr of Mary land with several of his Council and other Gent attending him at the House of Charles Anderson on the 5th of August pursuant to the Agreement made with the said Indians by Mr Powell and that he came with no other View or Intention but to Confirm a lasting Peace and setled Friendship with them and to that end brought several presents with him to be delivered them upon the Conclusion of such Treaty You are further to inform them that the Governor was p. 143 much Suprized at their not meeting him at the time Ap pointed and that he fears some ill designing People has misrepresented us to them but that if they will come down to our chief City of Annapolis at the time of our Great As semblys meeting which will be the fifth of October next being sixty days from the date hereof they shall meet with a kind and friendly Reception Sign'd Cha: Calvert

The General Assembly of the Province being to meet this day pursuant to the writts of Election there being not a suffi cient number of the Upper House met to proceed upon Business it is therefore resolved by this Board that the same be prorogued till to morrow this 6th Instant to which his Ex cellency Concurs Which proclamation issued p• 144
