                    At a Council held at the House of Colo Samuel Young on

                  Wednesday the 14th day of Iuly Annoq Dni 1725

                    The Clerk of this Board produces the Council Commission

                  which he was Ordered to search for

                    His Excellency the Governor acquaints the Board of his

                  Intention oi meeting the Shuano Indians next month pursuant

                  to a Message lately sent to them from this Board by Mr

                  Powell to settle Articles of peace with them whereupon it is

                  advised that the Articles Already entred into with the Genes

                  togoe Indians &c are proper Articles to be Concluded and

                  Agreed to with the said Shuano Indians and it further thought

                  necessary by this Board that his Excellency upon making such

                  Treaty with them present them with one Dozen Callico Shirts

                  and Shifts Six Match Coats and as much powder and Shott as his

                  Excellency shall find to be proper and to make a reasonable

                  Bargain with the said Indians for bringing down those Negroes

                  already amongst them or as shall hereafter run to them as

                  his Excellency at his discretion shall think fit

                    And it is further the Opinion of this Board that whatever

                  Negroes shall be brought down by the said Shuano Indians

                  be and remain in Custody until the sence of the Assembly of

                  this province be known in Relation thereto

                    His Excellency Charles Calvert Esqr Qualifies himself at

                  this Board as Chancellor of Maryland and Keeper of the

               P• 142  Great Seal thereof by taking the several Oaths appointed to

                  be taken by Act of Assembly subscribing the Oath of Abjura

                  tion and Test and taking the Oath of Chancellor
