   Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1723. 421

  

     Kaom Hac Ghea Tae and Dac Kã ae Eugh Kings of Kio Lib. X.

   Gugh and Hannashannaegas King of Ondowah appeared

   before the Board and acquainted the Governor and Council

   by John Webster and an Indian Woman their Interpreters

   that understanding by some English Traders and several In

   dians that the Governor desired to see them they were now

   come down on purpose for that end they therefore desire to

   know what answer they shall return to their Town and five

   Nations and how the Governor likes their visit

     His Excellency and the Board taking the same into their

   Consideration do Agree to the following Answer vizt    p. 95

     That as they came from our Friends the Sinica Indians for

   whom this Government has a just Esteem and Friendship the

   Governor and Council are Glad to see them and tho they

   never had sent for them yet in regard they were our Friends

   and had come down to visit Us the Governor and Board

   thought fit to Give their three Kings each one Blue Stroud

   Match Coat and to their War Captain and Woman Inter

   preter each one Red Stroud Match Coat but that they had

   nothing else to Offer only that this Governmt will always be

   Glad to maintain peace and Amity with them so long as they

   Behaved themselves in a friendly manner towards us

  

  

  

     At a Council held in the Council Chamber in Annapolis

   May the 10th 1723

                  Colo Thomas Addison

  

     the honble Philemon Lloyd Esq Councillors

  

  

  

                Colo M T Ward

                James Lloyd Esqr

                Benjamin Tasker Esqr

     His Excellency having signified to the Board that he had

   nothing of moment to lay before the Assembly at their next

   meeting in Iuly the 2d next following and desiring their

   opinion whether a further Prorogation of them to Monday

   the 23d day of September next would not be proper

     This Board is Opinion that it is a proper time and there- p. 96

   upon Ordered that Proclamation issue for that purpose

     Ordered that the Clerk of this Board do write to the Sev

   eral Sheriffs of this Province to give personal notice to every
