Churches & Chappells of Ease and others the most fre- C. P. quented places in their said Counties whereof they are not to fail at their Perills. Given at the City of Annapolis under the broad Seal of the Province the Eleventh day of January in the Second year of his Lordships Dominion &Ca Annoq Dmi 1716 God Save the King.
Was Read at the board a letter to his Excellency from the Right honble Paul Methuen Esqr One of his Majty's Principall Secretarys of State dated at White hall the 16th day of August 1716 Incloseing a list of the names of the Rebbell Prisoners who have been Ordered to be transported to Maryland Signifying his Royall highnesses pleasure that his Excellency do with all Convenient Speed return an Exact list of the Rebbell Prisoners that have been landed in this Province that the same may be laid before his Royall highness Whereupon Ordered that Notice be given Mr Lewis factor on board the ship friendship whereof Capt Mankin is Comander to come and record in the Secretarys Office of this Province the list of the Prisoners by him transported in Order to enable his Excy to render an Account as Required. Mr Richd Done factor for Mr Richd Guildard & Company Merchts in Leverpoole having presented to his Excellency a list of the names of fifty five of the Rebbells Transported in the Ship the Good Speed Arthur Smith, Master, And the same being read at the board ‘tis observ'd he makes return that James Renton is unsold and that Humphry Sword and James Sumerville had agreed with their Owners not to be sold who had given such Orders, That John Shafloe was deced at Potomack River and that Alexander Macgiffin was runaway (who as his Excy is advised is gone towards New York but no Application ever made to his Excy for a hue & Cry) That as to Humphry Sword & James Sumerville his Excellency Acquainted the factor he did not think it a Convenient power of his Owners to sett them at liberty but that they must either be sold according to his Majty's Pleasure Signifyed by the Right honrble Mr Stanhope or give Security for their Continueing in this Province and being of good behaviour for the Space of Seven years The said Mr Done also Delivered to his Excy the following protest being taken from One of the Rebbells on board the afd Ship Called the Good Speed signed by Jno Chalmers One of the said Rebbells Viz. Whereas by An Act of Parliamt made Tricessimo Primo Caroli Secundi It is Enacted that no Subject of this Realm shall be sent Prisoner to any part beyond the Seas within or
