      Att a Councill held at the City of Annapolis in the Province

    of Maryland on the Eleventh day of January in the third year

    of the reign of our Sovn Lord King George And in the

    second of his Lordships the Right honble the Lord Proprys

    Dominion &c. Annoq Dom 1716.

      John Beard of the City of Annapolis Produces to this board

    a Comission from his Excellency the Govr Comissionateing

    him to be Clerk to his Lordships Councill within this Province,

    which is as follows.

    Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c. To

    Our Trusty & welibeloved John Beard of the City of Annapo

    lis in our Province of Maryland Greeting.

      Forasrnuch as We do repose Speciall Trust and Confidence

    in your Integrity fidelity skill & Cunning in Clerkship We

    have thought fitt and do by these prsents give and grant unto

    you the said John Beard the Office of Clerk to our Governour

    & Councill of Maryland hereby Appointing Authorizeing

    and Impowering You to have hold Exercise & Enjoy the said

    Office And to take & receive to your own proper use &

    behoof as well the Sallary usually allowed as also all and

    Singular other the rights Profitts benefitts and Advantages

    thereto belonging or in any ways Appertaining in as Ample

    manner as any of the Clerks to our said Governour and

    Councill of Maryland have used To have hold exercise re

    ceive and enjoy the same, for and dureing our good will &

    pleasure Wittnesse Our Trusty and welbeloved John Hart

    Esqr Our Capt Gene rall and Governour in Chief of our said

    Province and Territory of Maryland this 12th day of October

    in the first year of our Dominion &c Annoq Dni 1716.
