342 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1716.
C. P. lency to Prorogue this Assembly to some Convenient time in which the Truth of the said Informations may be knowne Signed p order Tho. Macnemara Cl. lower Ho.
Which being read and Debated the following answer was sent thereto by Mr Lloyd and Col Tilghman. Viz.
By his Excellcy & the Upper House of Assembly April 24th 1716.
Upon reading Your written Message by Col Hoskins and others, his Excellency the Governr is pleased to declare that he has not received any judicial Notice of the Death of the Rt Honble the Lord Proprietary, nor from his Lordship's Guardian, of Wt Stepps the Present Session of Parliamt in Great Britain have made towards his most Sacred Majesty's Reasuming the Proprietarie Govmts in America; But Since it is the Request of Yr House tht the Assembly shou'd be pro rogued to some further Time; therefore to prevent any In conveniency which may arise from the Uncertainty that You seem to be in, upon the above Reports, and to frustrate the good Intention of the meeting of this Assembly and put the Country to an Unnecessary Charge His Excellency wth the Advice of the Council will prorogue this Genrl Assembly to a further Proper tyme. Col Mackall presented Mr Thomas Robinson Delegate for Talbot County who was Sworne in his Presence. Advised that his Excellency will be pleased to prorogue the Assembly to Tuesday the 17th of July next. And the Honble Col Coursey & Col Addison were sent to require Mr Speaker and the Members of the Lower House, forthwith, to Attend his Excellency in Council. Whereupon Mr Speaker and the Members of the lower House immediately came and Attended his Excellency in Council, who on the Behalfe of the Rt Honble Charles Lord Baron of Baltemore Absolute Lord & Proprietor of this Prov ince, and by and wth the Advice of his Lordship's Honble Council, Prorogued this Genrll Assembly untill tuesday the seaventeenth of July next ensuing and required them to take Notice they were accordingly so Prorogued W Bladen, Clk of the Upper House.
