324 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.
Lib. W. B. for the Causes & Considerations therein mentioned unto p. 62 Cecilius Baron of Baltem ore His Heirs and Assignes the
said Province of Maryland &c. With all Powers Jurisdictions and Authoritys whatsoever necessary & convenient for the well Governing Safety and Preservation of the said Province and the Inhabitants thereof and to that End all matters and things whatsoever to do and Performe either by Himselfe his Heirs or by His or their Deputys or Lieutenants as in by the sd Letters Patents Relation thereunto being had more fully and at large appears, and his present Majesty King George having approved the Appointment of You to be Lieutent and Chief Governour of the said Province Know therefore that I the said Lord Baltemore and I the said Lord Guilford Guardian of the said Lord Baltemore on his Behalfe Reposing especial Trust and Confidence in your Loyalty Courage Prudence and Conduct have (by virtue of the Powers given in and by the sd Letters Pattents and Apro bation aforesaid) Constituted Nominated & Appointed and by these Presents do Constitute Nominate & Appoint You the said John Hart to be Lieutent and Cheif Governr of the p. 63 said Province of Maryland Giving and hereby Granting You full and absolute Power and Authority to Exercise Execute and put in Practice all and every the sd Powers Jurisdictions and Authoritys so Granted in and by the said Letters Patents as aforesd necessary and convenient for the Defence Safety Preservation well being and good Governing of the said Province and generally to doExecute and Per forme all and all manner of matters & hings whatsoever requisite and necessary for the good Order of Governmt Administring Maintaining and Executingof Justice and for the Security Defence Safety Peace and Preservation of the said Province and People hereby committed to your Charge. And also with the Consent of the Council and generall As sembly of the said Province to Repeale or Alter any Laws whatsoever in the said Province as shall be thought fit to be changed and to Enact all such reasonable Laws and Statutes for the better Governmt of the sd Province as You wth the Advice & Consent of the sd Council & Genrll Assembly shall think fit and Expedient Provided such Laws be not repugnant p. 64 to the Laws of Great Britain nor invading of any the Prerog atives Royal granted by the sd Charter to the Proprietor of the said Province which Laws you are to Transmitt over for the Confirmation or Disallowance thereof of me the said Lord Baltemore, And I the sd Lord Baltimore and I the sd Lord Guilford on his Behalfe do hereby further Impower Constitute You to be Admirall and Capt Genrll and Commander in Cheif of all the Forces raised or to be raised both by Sea and Land
