         Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.     323

   

     His Excellency communicated to the Board a Paragraph of Lib. W. B.

    a Letter from the Rt Honble the Lord Proprietor and the Lord

    Guilford Dated at London September the 19th 1715 Viz.

   

     As to that Part of your first Letter in which You Excuse

    Yourselfe to my late Lord for transgressing his first Instruc- p. 60

    tions upon acct of not giving up Your Government till the

    King's Pleasure was knowne, is now fully answered by the

    Commission you have from us with the King's Approbation

    according to Law & so all the Authority You had from the

    Commission the Crowne gave you is determined both by

    that and the Proclamations sent you from hence by the Gov

    ernment

     After which his Excellency produced his most sacred

    Majesty's Royall Instructions under his signe Manual and

    Privy Seale dated at St James's the first day of July in the

    first year of his Majesty's Reigne &c. Annoq Dni 1715

     Intituled Orders and Instructions to our Trusty and well

    beloved Francis Lord Guilford for and on Behalfe of Charles

    Lord Baltemore of Our Kingdom of Ireland a minor, Pro

    prietor and Governr of Our Province of Maryland in America

    in pursuance of severall Laws relating to the Trade and

    Navigation of this Our Kingdom of Great Britain and our

    Colonys and Plantations in America

     Part of which Instructions are in the Tenour following viz.

    

     First, You shall give Directions & take special Care that

    John Hart Esqr Deputy Governour of Our Province of P. 6x

    Maryland do in the first Place informe himselfe of the

    Principal Laws relating to the Plantation Trade, viz. &c.

   

     And further His Excellency produced a Commission from

    the said Lord Baltemore and the said Lord Guilford his

    Guardian for and on his Behalfe Dated in London the 30th of

    May 1715 under their Lordships Hands & Seales, consti

    tuting him the said John Hart Esqr Lt Govnr of this Province

    Admirall and Capt Generall of all the Forces within the

    same, which was read in the following Words, Viz.

   

     Charles absolute Lord & Proprietor of the Provinces of

    Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &c. And also

    Francis Lord Guilford Guardian to the said Charles Lord

    Baltemore for & on his Behalfe

   

    To John Hart Esqr Greeting

     Whereas His late Majesty King Charles the first of blessed

    Memory by his Royal Letters Pattents under the Great Seale

    of England bearing Date the twentyeth day of June in the

    eighth Year of his Reigne was graciously Pleased to grant
