                  322 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.

           

               C. P.  ours. There is a Sherriffe for the City of Annapolis and two

                  or three Attorneys of the Mayors Court whose Fees are

                  Limited by Rule of Court, and are far less than what are

                  taken in the County Courts

                   The Court of Vice Admiralty was formerly held by Com

                  missioners under his late Royal Highness Prince George Lord

                  High Admiral of England, Who appointed a Judge Register

                  and Martial, but Since his Death that Court has not met, but

                  is Supposed may be againe Erected by particular Commis

                  sions from the Govnr and Vice Admiral of this Province for

                  tht Purpose.

                   His Majesty has three Collectors of his Customes in this

                   Province—

                   John Dansey Esqr for Puttuxent at 80 l Sallary p Ann

                   James Bowles Esqr for Potomeck at 60 l p Ann

                   William Stoughton Esqr for Pocomoke at 60 l p Ann.

                   Mr Wm Bladen is Surveyor & Navl Offir at Annapolis at

                  60 l p Ann. Mr Thos Collier is Surveyr & Navll Offcr at Wil

                  liamstadt at 60 l p Ann. Mr John Phelps is Survr & Navl Offcr at

                  Potomeck at 60 l p Ann. Mr Stephen Knight is Survr & Navl

                  Offcr at the Head of the Bay at 60 l p Ann. Mr Wm Forest is

                  riding Survr for the Seabord Side of Somersett County.

                   There are two receivers of his Matys Revenue within this

                  Province, One Viz. John Rousby Esqr (who is Nay' Officer of

                  Puttuxent) Receiver for that District a Sallary of One hun

                  dred pounds p Ann, & to be payd him out of the King's

                  Revenue Fines & Forfeitures

                   And John DanseyEsqr is Receiver of his Matys Revenue&c in

                  the District of Potomeck at the same Sallary of £100 per Ann.

                   The Proprietary has his Agent & Surveyors for his Land

                  Affairs.

                   There are Parishes in the Province whereof Six are now

                  Vacant of Incumbents These Parishes one with another are

                  worth about twenty thousand pds of Tobacco p Ann. but not

                  being so well divided, some are of far more and others of far

                  less Emoliment. The Lord Bishop of London is the Dioces

                  san of the Province.
