318 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.
C. P. forasmuch as it is offered, that in Case any Judgements shou'd be rendred at the next Provincial Court to be held the 14th Instant the same may be reversed as Erronious for want
of due Commissions to that Court. His Excellency was pleased to desire the Opinion of the Board, whether it be not proper to Adjourne the Provincial Court, and after what manner, and whether any reason shou'd be given therefore, and to what tyme. In answer whereto The Board are of opinion that the Provin cial Court shou'd be adjourned untill the first Tuesday in May next ;—But that one or more of the Justices thereof shou'd meet at the day of the Returne of the Process, to take the Returnes thereof and Appearances on Recognizances And Order the other Proceedings to be generally continued to the aforesd first Tuesday of May next, And then without any further Proceedings to Adjourne the said Court to that Tyme. And that in the mean time His Excellcy will be pleased to Issue his Proclamation intimating the Same to the Sherriffs, Jurors, Evidences, Suitors and others to prevent their Trouble & Expence in Coming over the Bay, and from other distant parts of the Province, to Attend the sd Court. The sd Proclamation being prepared, was read,and approved of as follows Viz.
Maryland SSt By His Excellcy the Capt Genrll A Proclamation Whereas It is thought advisable that the Provincial Court which now stands adjourned until Tuesday the thirteenth Instant, shou'd not proceed to any further Buisness save to the taking the Returnes of the Process of the said Court, and Appearances on Recognizances to that tyme, and to order the Process of the Court to be generally continued, And then Adjourne the sd Court to the first Tuesday in May next; I have therefore by and wth the Advice of his Matys Honble Council within this Province, thought fit to Issue this my Proclamation, notifying the same To the End that the sevrll Jurors, and Evidences, summoned to the sd Court and all Suitors thereto (Save such as are concerned on the sd Appearances & Recognizances) may not give themselves the Trouble, & Expence of Attend ing thereon, from which They are hereby discharged And to the End that all Persons may have due and Speedy notice hereof, I do hereby strictly Comand and require the respective Sheriffs, of the sevrll Countys in this Province forthwith to Publish this my Proclamation, in the most Publick and fre quented Places, of their respective Countys. Given at the City of Annapolis the 3d day of Septbr in the second Year of
