Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715. 317
I thought it necessary at this Juncture to call an Assembly Lib. W. B. as well to provide for the defence of this Country as to try p. 55 what may be done for the further releif of their Fellow Sub- jects and they are to meet the 3d of next Month. It wou'd be of the greatest Service to these Plantations if Maryland Virginia & North Carolinia cou'd be brought to raise a Force of 1500 Men to march directly to the Indian Towns and destroy and Harrass those of whome we are most in danger such an Effort would Convince the Indians that we are not so Easily Subdued as they have imagined but this is rather to be wished for than depended on, since I beleive You are allready sufficiently acquainted with the humour of Assembly.
