                 302 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.

          

          Lib. W. B. the sd Province or by other British Ships as likewise tht none

                 of the French Subjects be allowed to Trade from their sd

                 Settlements to Maryland. So we bid you heartily farewell

                 and are          Your very loving Freunds

                                        and humble Servants

                  Whereupon Advised that Proclamation be forthwith Isued

                 in order to prevent any such Illegal Trade.

                  Then was read a Letter from his Excellency Francis Nichol

                 son Esqr His Majesties Capt Genrll & Govnr of Nova Scotia

                 &c Relating to the aforementioned Illegal Trade And like

                 wise a Letter from Josiah Burchett Esq' Secretary of the

              p. 34  Admiralty was read with his Matys Royal Proclamation therein

                 inclosed requiring all Ships and Vessells Trading from the

                 Plantations in the Way of the Algerines to furnish Them

                 selves wth passes.

                  Whereupon advis'd and Resolved his Excellency Issue his

                 Proclamation notifying the same wch being prepared was

                 approved of & is as follows Viz.

          

          

                  By his Excellcy the Capt Genrll &c.

                             A Proclamation

                  Whereas his most Sacred Maty Our Sovereigne Lord the

                 King has been graciously Pleased out of his tender Care of

                 his Subjects Trading from the Plantations in the way of the

                 Algerines to Issue his Royal Proclamation in the Tenr follow

                 ing Viz.

          

                              By the King

                             A Proclamation

                  G. R. Requiring all Ships and Vessels Trading from the

                 Plantations the way of the Algerines to furnish themselves

                 wth Passes

                  Whereas pursuant to Treaties concluded between Our Pre

                 decessors and the Govmt of Argier, several passes have been

                 Granted under the Hand and Seale of the High Admirals of

                 Great Britain or the Commissioners for Executing the Office

                 of our respective Dominions: And whereas Our Commis

                 sioners for Executing the Office of High Admiral have hum

                 bly represented unto us that they have reason to apprehend

                 tht Several of the sd Passes of the old Forme have been Clan-
