      A Message from the Lords Justices by Sr Wm Oldes Gen

    tleman Usher of the Black Rod.

   

   

    Mr Speaker,

      The Lords Justices Comand the immediate Attendance of

    this Honble House in the House of Peers.

      Accordingly Mr Speaker wth the House went up to the

    House of Peers

      And being returned,

      Mr Speaker reported, that the House had Attended in the

    House of Peers, Where the Lord Chancellor did in the Name

    of the Lords Justices of Great Britain deliver a Speech to

    both Houses of Parliament of which for prventing Mistakes

    he had obteyned a Copy.

      Mr Speaker read the Speech to the House, which is as fol-

    lows Viz.

   

   

    My Lords & Gentlemen

      It is with great Satisfaction we can now tell you that we

    have this Morning received a Letter from the King wherein

    His Majesty is graciously pleased to acquaint Us that His

    Majesty is hastening hither to employ his utmost care for

    putting these Kingdoms into a happy and flourishing condi

    tion. He has Comanded Us in the mean time to continue

    Our Care of every thing that may Conduce to the Peace and

    Safety of his Dominions. And We are Assured that if this

    had required his more immediate Prsence He wou'd without

    the least Delay have repaired hither for the support of so

    Dutiful & faithfull Subjects for his Majestie doth very par-    p. 10

    ticularly Express His great Satisfaction in the Loyalty &

    Affection wth which his People have universally shewne upon

    his Majesties Accession to the Crowne.

      At the opening this Session We did not mention to you the

    Apprehensions we then had from the Smallness of the Summe

    at that Tyme Advanced that the Lottery woud not be full

    being desirous in the first Place to Try to make it Effectual in

    the manner the Parliament had Established it: but we are

    obliged now to acquaint you That all our Endeavours have

    failed of the desired Success tho the Contributions have been

    considerably Encreased.

      We must therefore earnestly recommend to You Gentle

    men of the House of Commons, to take this into Your Con

    sideration and to give such further Encouragement as You

    shall think Proper for raising the whole Summe which was
