                162 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1703.

           

       Lib. X.   pass to oblige Colo Henry Darnal the Lord Proprietarys

                 Agent to bring into his Office the Remaining Pattents in his

                 Custody                         -  -

                  Ordered that the said Colo Henry Darnal his said Lordship

                 the Lord Baltimores Agent in this Province do bring unto the

                 Secretarys Office what Patents are made out & remaining in

                 his custody to be recorded in the Secrys Office pursuant to his

                 late Majestys Order in Council in favour of the said honble

                 Secretary

           

           

                  At a Council held at the Town & Port of Annapolis Wed

                 nesday August 18th 1703

                                      Present

                       The honble Tho Tench Esqr President

                               Thomas Brook Esqr     Colo Edward Lloyd

                 the honble    Lt Colo W Holland             &

                               Colo John Hammd       James Sanders Esqr

         p. 335  Produced and read the right Honble their Lordships the

                 Lords of trade and foreign Plantations Letter of the 20th of

                 April last

                  1 Recommending the due holding the several Courts of

                 this Province & impartially administring of Justice therein

                 without Delay

                  2 Secondly that an especial Court for determining small

                 Causes be recommended to be established by act of Assembly

                  3 And thirdly requiring an abstract of the proceedings of

                 the Several Courts of this Province to be transmitted to their

                 Lordships

                  To the first part of which Letter this Board do say that they

                 have not heard any Complaints of the Delay of Justice Or

                 Partial Proceedings in any of the Courts of this Province But

                 on the Contrary are assured that all Causes in the Provincial

                 Court especially & Generally in the County Courts are duly

                 Dispatched to the satisfaction of the inhabitants & Others

                 Traders in this Province however this Board think fit to Re

                 commend to the justices of the Provincial & County Court

                 that they take especial care impartially to administer Justice

                 in their several Courts & that no causes be continued Longer

                 than the due Course of Practice admits unless where very

                 good & Sufficient reasons are given therefore

                  As to the Second part of their Lordships Letter this Board

                 humbly conceive that our act of Assembly for recovery

                 of small Debts an Exemplification whereof is before their

                 Lordships answers their Lordships recommendation

                  And as to the third Part Ordered that her Majestys Secry

                 take Care to transmit to their Lordships such Abstract of the
