4th That Church Officers be obliged to subscribe their As. Lib. X sent & Consent of the Common Prayer & 39 Articles 5thly That no unbaptized persons may be admitted into any Office of trust in the Govt 6th That the Dissenters especially the Quakers do not p. 333 conform to the act of Tolleration as confirmed by the Act of Religion in divers particulars first in not subscribing such de claration & Possession as provided is by that Law they should Secondly in not Registring their meeting Houses in the Several County Courts That your Honours would be pleased further to recom mend to the honble house of Delegates the passing of an additional Act concerning religion wherein some penalty may be inflicted on such as professing themselves protestants never attend the publick worship of God 8 That the Quakers & Papists be restrained from sedu- cing her Majestys Protestant Subjects Annapolis May 27th 1703 Rects Robert Owen John White John Sharp Ben Nobbs John Edwards Tho Cockshutt Gabriel D'Emilliane Hen Hall Joseph Colbatch Wm Tibbs Tho Howell
The honble president aquaints the Board of his being In formed of several considerable Quantitys of Rum clandestinely brought from Pensylvania over the head of the Bay into this Province the same not being entred with the Officer therefore appointed or any Duty paid therefore for prevention whereof he proposes that the Clark of this Board write to Mr Mathias Vanderhayden the Naval Officer at the head of the Bay to depute some person in Elk & Bohemiah River to prevent the same and that the said Naval Officer keep a good Correspon dency with the Riding Surveyor Read the petition of George Muschamp and Geo Plater P. 334 Esqrs praying the Application of this Board on their Behalfs to the right Honble the Lords of trade & Foreign Plantations that their respective Sallaries of One hundred Pounds Sterl p Annum may be paid them out of the 3d p hhd allotted for the purchasing arms for this Province now in their hands The Board do not think fit to make any such Application the said Duty of 3d p hhd being given to the Country for so good an use neither does any method at present Occur to them whereby they may tho willing to assist the Petitioners Upon the Representation of Sr Thomas Lawrence Bart her Majestys Secretary of this Province that some Order might 11
