160 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1703.
Lib. X. upon receipt whereof the Council were summoned & upon due regard had to & consideration of your Lordships desire that we should transmit the three hundred pounds voted by our Assembly for the Assembly for the Assistance of New York to your Lordship by Bills of Exco though for our selves we were willing & shall upon all Occasions be ready to Convince your Lordship of the Due respect we have as well to her Majstys Service as of your Lordships person & noble Character yet Beg Leave to acquaint your Lordship that this Province havg formerly been at great Charge on the like occasion of remit ting moneys to your Government our Assembly have resolved that the money voted should be paid by the Treasurers to Such person as should be sent from your Government who might give a Receipt therefore which by our former Letter we intimated to your Lordship and assure you that when your Lordship shall be pleased to send for the same it will be readily paid to your Lordships Order for the Assistance of the Majestys Province under your Lordships Government Ac- p. 332 cording to his late Majestys Directions and that We are Your Lordships To his Excellency the most Obedient humble Servts Lord Cornbury her Majstys Tho Tench President Governor of the Province Thomas Brook of New York John Hammond Edward Lloyd Ia Sanders
The following Representation of the Clergy of this Province read and referred to the next Assembly
To his honour the President and Council Sitting
May it please your Honours We the Clergy who have hereunto Subscribed do humbly lay before your Honours the following particulars to be re commended as your Honours shall think fit to the Considera tion of the next Sessions of Assembly 1st That Catalogues of Parochial Librarys be taken & sent to the Council 2d Whether the Sheriff can by the Letter of the Act of Assembly demand Sallary for collecting and paying the 40 l tob p Poll & from whom 3d How necessaries for the Communion ought to be Pro vided & whether according to the Act of Queen Eliza the Church wardens of our respective Parishes are not to take care for the same & how to be raised
