150 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1703.
Lib. X. His Excellency the Governor of Virginia being now here p. 326 in Town it is resolved he be made acquainted with these Proceedings of the said Captain Bostock & advised with thereupon Her Majestys Order by the Lord Nottingham to Assist the Agents of the Commsrs of the Victualling & the Captains of men of war here dated Whitehall 20th of October 1702 now come to hand read at the Board At the request of his Excellency Colo Francis Nicholson her Majestys Governor of Virginia ordered that the several Col lectors make up their Accounts of the 1d p b on Tobacco & swear to the same before his honour the President Edward Pollard of Talbot County his petition praying her Majestys Royal Pardon he having been found Guilty of man slaughter unfortunately Shooting & killing a man when really intended to Shoot at a wild Turkey the said Edward Pollard being a very poor man & his whole Estate not of the value of tenn pounds & the Unfortunate accident being as in the Petition set forth he is thought a very fitting Object of her Majestys Grace & mercy & therefore Ordered such pardon be prepared by the Attorney General to pass the Great Seal of this Province The Petition of Mr Richard Bennet read praying the Assignment of Mr Thomas Staleys late Sheriff of Baltimore County his Bond from which he has a publick Claim Ordered that the Assembly be prorogued until the fifth of June next Ordered that the following Sheriffs Commission be re newed Vizt to Mr James Hays for St Marys County Mr p. 327 George Parkers for Calvert County Captain Thomas Smoots for Charles County Mr John Greshams for Ann Arundel County Major Josias Wilson for Prince Georges County Captain John Hynson for Cecil County Mr John Hawkins for Kent County Mr Vincent Hemsley for Talbot County & Major John Cornish for Somersett County Mr Acquila Paca being appointed Sheriff of Baltimore County & Mr Roger Woolford Sheriff of Dorchester County Came Panquas an Eastern Shore Indian at Nanticoke & Commander there & Complained that his Cabbin had been broken open by a certain Negro belonging either to Major Thomas Taylor of Dorchester Lounty or Mr Peter Taylor his Son from whence the said Negro had Stolen divers goods of a considerable value which the said Panquass mentioned part whereof were found upon him & were restored the other having been made away by the said Negro for which he demands sixty nine Drest deer Skins but his Complaint
