     spoke something thick that he could not understand whether      Lib. X.

     it was no or not I this was on the Wednesday on the Monday

     following he called on the said Govr of Virginia to know if he

     had any Service to Command to Maryland the people told

     him he was not up when he first went but in a little time Sr

     Edmund Came to him in his morning Gown he asked him             p. 167

     if he had any service to Command in Maryland & not being

     dressed he could not write then & Whereupon he offered to

     stay a day or two if his Excellency would please to write his

     Ansr was truly he could not be hurried

       Read his Excellencys order for the reception of Colo Blakis-

     ton whom it is advised his most Sacred Majesty has been

     Graciously pleased to appoint his Governor of this Province

       His Excellency is pleased to tell the Gentlemen of the

     Council that he requires there presence here so soon as they

     shall here of his Arrival

       The petition of Henry Bonner read & referred to his

     Majestys Attorney General to make report what is fitting to

     be done therein

       Captain Iames Brains being brought before the board his

     Exclcy asks him if he has any particular Commission from his

     Majesty to examine his actions

       Tells him that he will use him fairer then he did the Gov

     ernment in arraigning it so clandestinely orders the Several

     Depositions taken against him to be read

       Captain Braine says he is not guilty of uttering the words

     in them contained & if he did it was when he was in drink--

     he is ordered to withdraw

       The further prosecution of this matter is referred to his

     Majestys Atty General

       The honble Thomas Tench Esqr Iudge of the Court of

     Admiralty Mr Wm Dent Advocate & Mr Wm Bladen Regisr

     thereof take the oaths of Iudge Advocate and Register & the

     oaths appointed by Act of Parliament to be taken instead of

     the Oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy & Subscribe the Test
