At a Council held at the Town & Port of Annapolis Wed- Lib. X. nesday April 14th in the 2d year of her Majestys Reign Anno Dom 1703
Present The honble Tho Tench Esqr President Colo John Hammond the honble Colo Edward Lloyd Colo Wm Holland Produced & read the right Honble the Lords of trade & Plantations Letter to the honble the President & Council of the 11th of November 1702 with her Majestys Proclamation for a Solemn thanksgiving for God Almightys Protection and the Good Success he has Vouchsafed her Majestys Arms for which their Lordships Direct a day for a Solemn thanksgiving to be set aside in this Province Ordered that Proclamation issue appointing the first of May for the said Solemnity at the Town & Port of Annapolis in Ann Arundell County & the 29th of the same month in all other parts of this Province The President acquaints the Board that he had Upon Oath received a Complaint of some unwarrantable Actions committed by Captain Nathaniel Bostock Commander of her Majestys Advice Boat Eagle within this Government and thereupon produced the honble James Sanders Esqr & Cap- tain James Mitchell's Depositions concerning the Violence used by Captain Bostock upon his Impressing on Board the Owners Adventure which are as follow
Maryland March 5th 1702/3 James Sanders Esqr One of her Majestys honble Council p. 313 being sworn upon the holy Evangelists Deposeth that on Wednesday last in the evening the Deponent at the Request of Captain James Mitchell went on Board the Ship Owners Adventure in South River & tarried there all that night the next morning Capt Nath Bostock Commander of her Majestys Ship Eagle Advice Boat came On Board with his Doctor & Boats Crew with their Arms were they were so violent & unruly that the Deponent hearing them got up out of the Cabbin the Cabbin Boy Acquainting him that the Captain of the man of war was Come on Board & they were all fighting so that the Dept Came out being not Drest & desired Cap- tain Bostock to Command his men to keep the Queens Peace but the said Captain Bostock gave no Reguard thereto only said that Captain Mitchell had two of his men & had hid
