  advice of the Board resolved that in Regard it is not known  Lib. X.

  when Mr Randolph may arrive that the said Commission be

  sent up to be put in Execution least her Majestys Service

  be prejudiced

    Ordered that what Ships can be got ready by the tenth

  of ber they be permitted to sail

 

 

           At a Council held at Annapolis

                  October 14th 1702

                       Present

                 The honble President

            Robert Smith Esqr    Lt Colo Wm Holland

the Honble  Colo Jno Hammond            &

                                 James Sanders Esqr

 

    Then was read Mr John Dowdall Clarke of Caecil Countys

  Letter to his Honour the President dated the 11th Of Sep-    p. 297

  tember acquainting his Honour that Divers of the Inhabit

  ants on Elk River had informed Caecil County Court that

  there was come to Conestego some Indians that have brought

  Valuable Apparell belonging to men & women Christians

  but murthered none.

    His Honour acquaints the Board that, supposing some

  Robberys might have been committed in this Province he had

  discoursed Mr Thomas Brook of Prince Georges County

  thereabout & made Great inquiry but could not hear of any

  Robbery there whereupon he had wrote to Colonel Nicholson

  her Majestys Governor of Virginia giving him an Account

  thereof if perchance any such Robbery had been committed

  in that Government

    This matter being thought worthy of further Enquiry,

  Ordered that Mr John Hall and Mr Mathias Vanderhayden

  as Commissioners and John Hans Tillman as Interpreter go

  to the said Indians at Conestogo & inquire into this Report,

  and if they find any such Goods that they secure them &

  enquire what Indians brought them & if under their Govern

  ment that they see them forth coming

  in the first year of her Majtys Reign
