132 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1702.
Lib. X. Read a Duplicate of the Earl of Nottinghams Letter of the 7th of May with her Majestys Declaration of War against France & Spain p. 298 Produced & read his Excellency the Governor of Virginias Letter of the 5th of October to his Honour the President desiring him to send down the Eagle Advice Boat to Kiquotan to help the Southampton to careen & thereupon ordered that the said Captain Bostock with her Majestys Advice Boat Eagle go down to Kiquotan with the first fair wind and weather presenting there to receive the directions of his Excellency the Governor of Virginia for her Majestys Service in that Colony Read Captain Bostocks Letter of the 6th of November 1702 expressing what straight he is in for want of Victuals Whereupon Ordered that upon the said Captain Bostocks giving his Bond to her Majesty for his repaying One hundred pounds Geo: Plater Esqr her Majestys Receiver of Puttuxent Districk pay unto the Captain Bostock One hundred pounds Sterling for the Supply of her Majestys Ship Eagle Advice Boat. Read his Excellency the Governor of Virginias Letter of the 4th instant to his Honour the President giving An Accot that forasmuch as there were Letters from Engld Advising that a man of war might be shortly expected to relieve the Southampton he had laid an Embargo on the Shipping in that Colony hoping the Ships ready to Sail for England might have the Benefit of Convoy under her Majestys said Ship the Southampton Resolved that the General Assembly be prorogued until the first day of February next. Major Josiah Wilson Sheriff of Prince Georges County Represents to the Board that, by mistake one Hundred P 299 thirty six Taxables were not brought into this Years List. Whereupon ordered that he collect the publick & County Levy p Poll from the said Persons and be accountable for the same to the next Assembly & Committee for Laying the publick Levy Then came Mr Thomas Howell Minister of Choptank & Dorset County Parishes & complained against Mr Anthony Le Count Hezekiah Mackey & Stewart, Vestrymen of Chop- tank Parish for that they had Letted him in the Enjoyment of his rights and Priviledges & turning him out of the Vestry & taken the Records of the Vestry away violently Mr John Le Count saying that he Would Justify the same and bear all Charges The said Gentlemen being summoned appeared & being asked what reason they had to use such Violent proceedings
