that Colonel Hammond acquaint the Committee that this Lib. X. Board were not willing to Raise any Tobacco but upon the said Committees Representation readily assent to the raising the said 60000 l of Tobacco being very unwilling the said p. 268 Persons should go unsatisfied which may be the Occasion of Clamour & Discontent & an undervaluing the Publick Creditt Whitehall December the 3d 1700 Lib. The Letters we have of late recd from you unto wch We have as yett returned no Answer are Dated the 12th and 24th of March 28th of May 5th of July and 6th Augt last We Observe the Reason you Alledge in your first of the Said Letters for not Sending an Acco of the Number of Plan ters and Inhabitants, and all Circumstances relating thereunto, and the Promise you make to take due Care that it be Exactly done and Transmitted to us for the future, We shall therefore Expect the Same. More Particularly we desire you to be mindfull of his Matys Instructions, for Sending home yearly Accounts of the Arms, Amunition and Stores remaining in his Matys Magazines in your Governmt and to take care that those Accounts be regu larly Transmitted, as his Maty has directed. As for the Division Line to be run between Maryland and Pensilvania Pursuant to the late King James's Order in Councill of the 13th of November 1685, We have Sent to the Lord Baltemore That he may give Instructions to his Agents in Maryland to Concurr therewith and according as we receive Answer from him, We shal Informe you. We Observe what you write in Several Letters about the Difficulty of getting together a Quorum of the Councill in p. 176 Maryland when occasion requires it, And we have thereupon Represented to his Maty our Opinion That W Thomas Lau rence may be Constituted a Member of his Matys Said Councill, which his Maty has been pleased accordingly to direct, And We doubt not but his Father Sr Thomas Laurence will Transmitt unto him his Matys Order in Councill for that purpose. But, upon this Occasion, We find it necessary to desire you to Transmitt unto us frequently Lists of the Coun cillors that are residing upon the place, Expressing in each List the Changes that happen by the Death or Absence of any of them, And to send us also from time to time repeated Lists of the Names of Such Persons as you think fitt to Supply Vacancys in that Councill according to your
