and the same keep continually in the said Church that psons
being thereby informed what marriages are forbidden may
Avoide the contracting any such unlawfull Marringe and that
the said Vestrymen doe once every yeare in or about the
month of January Yearly make choice and appointe two Sober
and discreete freeholders of their respective Parrishes to be
church Wardens for that Yeare upon Penalty of Two hundred
Pounds of tobb each Vestryman (Except those excepted)
neglecting either in the table of marriages or appointing
Church Wardens to our Sovereigne Lord the King as Aforesd
which Church Wardens soe chosen shall take the usuall Oaths
and likewise declare on his oath given by the Vestry well &
faithfully to Execute that Office dureing the ensueing Yeare
according to the best of his knowledge any such person or
persons soe Chosen Church Warden or Wardens that shall
wilfully refuse to Serve in the said Office and take the Oaths
Aforesaid shalbe fined One Thousand Pounds of tobbo to our
Sovereigne Lord the King and the Church Wardens and Ves-
trye are Authorized and required to take constant care to Sattis-
fye and pay the pochyall charges and of all necessary repaires
and Amendments of the respective Churches Chappells or
church Yards and Cause the same at all times to be repaired
and Amended as need shall require and Sattisfy and pay
for the same either out of the fforty p poll where noe minister
is Appointed or out of such other guifts Grants Goods Chat-

tles or Creditts as shall come to their hands for the Church or
Parrish use if there be any Minister Instituted therein and the
Vestry have not any Effects in their hands besides the fforty
p Poll to pay Parrochiall Charges as Aforesaid or to make
such necessary charges as is required then and not otherwise
it shalbe Lawfull for the Justices of the respective Parrishes
upon application of such Parrish Vestry and Church Wardens
to Asses the Respective parrishes by A Certaine Sume of
Tobbo not Exceeding Tenn Pounds of tobbo by the Pole in any
One Yeare which Assessment made by such County Course
and A Certificate thereof under the County Scale shalbe
Sufficient to the Sherriff of such County to Leavy such tax
by the Pole on the Taxables of such parrishes in the same
manner as other Publick dues are Levied and shall not deduct
above ffive Per Cent for his Sallary and pay the same to such
Vestrye for the use Aforesaid and to the intent that this Act
may Answer the end of the makers wch is that his Majts good
Subjects of this Province may be instructed in Religion and
therein of their duty to God his Majts and themselves and
those Pious and Exemplary persons that shall labour therein
suitably provided for Be it Enacted by the Authority Advice
and consent aforesaid that noe Minister or incumbent shall at
