and Choose one or more Sober and discreet Prson or persons
freeholders of Each respective Parrish to Supply such Ab-
sence or defect and Such Prsons soe Elected and Chosen
after takeing the usuall Oath appointed by Act of Parliament
instead of the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy and the
Oath of A Vestryman appointed by this Act (That is to say)
I doe Solemnly Sweare and declare That I will lustly and
truely Execute the trust and Office of a Vestryman of this
prish According to my best Skill and knowledge without
Prejudice ffavour or Affection but with Equall right to all
Prsons for the Benefitt of this Church and Parrish and will
not diminish or detayne legally Quallified and Presented in-
ducted or appointed by his Excy the Govr or other Person
legally Authorized thereto any right Perquisite or benefitt
given by the Law soe help me God and Subscribing the test
and Association shalbe deemed and taken as one of the Ves-
trye to all intents and Purposes and if any Person soe chosen
Vestrymen shall refuse to serve and take the Oaths aforesaid
he shalbe fined one thousand Pounds of tobbo to his Majty
as Aforesaid and the same method shall allways be Observed
to Perpetuate the Succession of the Vestry in all time to come
provided Allways that in every Parrish where any minister or

incumbent is or shalbe instituted inducted appointed and in-
vested with the fforty p Pole and resideing therein he shall
dureing his continuance aforesaid and noe longer be one of
the vestry of such pish and Principall of such Vestry altho
therebe the number of six Persons before and for keeping A
faire Regr of all such Vestrys proceedings and for registring
of all births marriages and Burialls in Each respective Parrish.
Be it Enacted by the Authority advice and consent aforesaid
That each Vestry shall and is hereby Oblidged to appointe
and keep a fitt Person for a Register who shall at all times
keep a fair Register of the Vestrys proceedings in Executeing
their Trust and Authority which Regr shall alsoe take the
Oaths Aforesaid and Alsoe an Oath Given him by the said
Vestry for the due and faithfull Executing his said Office and
shall make true Entrye of all Vestry Proceedings and of all
Births Marriages and Burialls Negroes and Mullatoes Ex-
cepted (That is to say) the Christian and Sir name with the
day month and Yeare of every Such Birth Marriage or Buriall
to which Purpose All and Every the inhabitants of Each par-
rish that are either Parents Guardians Overseers Mars or Mis-
tresses of any psons borne Buried or married are hereby
Enjoyned and required to Give notice to the Regt of such
Parrish within Two Moneths after such Birth Marriage or
Buriall and Pay him Six Pence for entring it at the time of
Giveing notice aforesaid under the Penalty of One hundr
