point his Excellency John Seymour Esqr her Captain Generall
and Chief Governor in And over this her Majesties Province
of Maryland To whom Wee her Majesty's most Loyall Sub-
jects Yield all due obedience as by her Royall Commission
we are obliged.
And the better to demonstrate Our most humble Gratitude
and to shew the good respects we have for and toward The
said John Seymour Esqr our present Governeur and the great
hopes and Expectation we have of his Excy's Good Govern-
ment over us We most humbly pray That it may be Enacted
and

Be it Enacted by the Queens most Excellent Majesty by
and with the advice and Consent of her Majesty's Governour
Councill and Assembly of this Province and the Authority of
the Same that an Imposition of three Pence p hogshead over
and above the one shilling p hogshead heretofore granted
for Support of her Majesties Governor here upon all Tobacco
that shall be hereafter Exported out of this Province by Land
or by Water and three pence upon Every four hundred
pounds of tobacco be it in Chest or Case may be raised
Levyed and paid to her Sacred Majesty her heires or Succes-
sors for the use and better maintenance of her Majesties said
Governour John Seymour Esqr During his Government in
and over this Province and no Longer if her Majesty shall be
so graciously pleased By the Master of Every Ship or Vessell
or other pson trading into or living in this Province in ready
money or bills of Exchange at the Election and Choice of the
said Master or others to be Collected by the Naval Officer
of the Port or District where such Shipp or Vessell shall En-
ter or such other psons as his Excellency shall think fitt to
Appoint. And

Be it further Enacted and Declared that if any tobacco
should by any Casual meanes be lost after the Imposition paid
that then and in All such Cases the owner of freighter of such
tobaccoes shall have free liberty to freight and ship of the like
quantity againe without paying the Additional three pence
This Act to Endure so Long as the said John Seymour Esqr
shall remayne Governour in and over this Province and no
Longer
