388 Assembly Proceedings, April 26-May 3, 1704.

Therefore resolved itt be recommended to his Excy for
paymt and tht a message be prepared and sent his Excy for
tht purpose which follow's &c.

By the house of Delegates
Aprill 29th 1704
Wee herewith send an account layed before this house by
the widdow Beard, demanding pay for cleanseing of armes &c.
and since her majesty has been graciously pleased to direct 3d
of the 12d p hhd to be applyed to supply the Countrey with
arms &c. and tht preserueing them are as necessary as pur-
chaseing thm and tht part of itt has been soe applyed, Wee
humbly refferr the Same account and all others of tht nature to
yor Excy to cause to be Examined, and tht you will please
to order the charge thereof to be defrayed out of the Revenue

Which message being read was sent up to his Excy by Mr
Thomas Smith.
He returnes and sayes he delivered the same.
The gent appointed to view the State house, & report wl
necessary repaires are wanting, Enter the house and report as
followes.

Wee whoe were appointed by this house to view the State
house and giue an acct wherein wee find itt Defectiue and
out of repaire, Doe report as followes.
That the Cubilo ittselfe wherein the Flag Staff stands is
leakey in the Shingling, and that the water runs downe the
Flag staff thro' the house where its hoysted, which is the
greatest Leake we can find, and cannot propose any other
way to prevent itt, then to remoue the staff, and close the
hole, or lett the staff stand, and cover the hole close, about
the staff with Lead, and wee Doe find that most of the offices
wants more or less repaire in plaistering and glazeing, and
some small bolts to the windowes, one of the back doores to
be hung, and a new step to be made, and the case of the new
Front Doore to be filled, and the stone step to be repaired,
the Lower Roome and great wood windowes to be repaired,
and the plaistering to be mended Samuell Young
John Salter
Charles Greenberry.

Which being read its resolved that Mr Saml Young & Mr
Charles Greenberry agree with workemen to make such
repaires, and that an ordinance be Drawne, & sent up to his
Excy and Councill for theire concurrence vizt
