Province, its the uniteing the People, the keeping men good
and deterring them from Comitting rapines of all degrees
upon each other; much may be said upon this subject which
is not soe proper here and not being my tallent neither is it
necessary where I am morrally assured those persons to whom
I apply are soe well inclined and are soe good Judges of the
fatall consequences would attend us in the loss of that good
Law.
Gent I shall not here Enumerate what other Affaires we
are to concert this Sessions of Assembly but will leave you
to proceed in the usuall way of conferrence and message being
ready to Joyne with you wherein we may promote his Maj^ts
Service on which depends the good of this Province
Wch being ended his Ex^cy was Pleased to deliver to M^r

Speaker a Coppy thereof And W^m Taylor haveing taken
the Oaths of Allegiance and Abhorrency was thereupon
admitted and Sworne Clk of this house at the Councill Board.
M^r Speaker and the house haveing taken their leaves
returne to the house and M^r Speaker haveing taken the
Chaire
It is ordered that the Clerk deliver Warr^ts for ye Writts of
Election to the Hono^ble Secretary
It is desired by the house that M^r Speaker prepare an
Answer to the Ex^cys Speech ag^t to morrow morning
The house adjournes till to morrow morning na Clock

Dies Saturnij 27 Aprill 1700

The house mett againe and were p^rsent as before with the
addicon of Capt Jn^o Worthington for Ann Arrundell County
who made his appearance
M^r Speaker brings into the house the Answer to the Ex^cys
Speech w^ch was desired by him to be prepared & w^ch was read

We have observed the progress of yo^r Ex^cys Governm^t and
Gratefully acknowledge yo^r sincere endeavors for the good
of his Maj^ts Leige people in this Province and without any
Jealousys assure ourselves the Same for the future
We are extremely sattisfied to have yo^r Ex^cy acknowledge
our Accons in the last Sessions to have been to yo^r Sattisfac-

tion: wee assure yo^r Ex^cy wee are come againe with the same
candid and honest resolucon inviolably to maintaine the same
good agreement and right understanding which hath hitherto
