And as to the Paragraph relateing to the Militia
Resolved the consideration thereof be referred to the com-
mittee of Laws, whoe are required to report to the house
whether there be occasion for the amendment of the present
act for regulating the Militia.
And as to that Paragraph relateing to the Indians This
House resolues His Excellency be desired to lay before them
the last Treaty made with the Indians, by which this house
may further proceed thereupon.
And Resolued that a Bill of Recognition to her Sacred
Majesty be prepared and brought into the house.
And it's Resolued in the house that they rneett att eight of
the Clock in the morneing, and sitt till Twelue, and from two
to sitt till six in the afternoone.
Mr Elisha Hall a member for Calvert County appeared and
declared that his conscience could not admitt him to take the
oaths, and soe withdrew to consider of takeing the oaths &c
Ordered that Mr Speaker and Mr Philemon Loyd prepare
an answer to his Excellency's Speech, and bring itt into the
house tomorrow morneing.
The house adjourned till tomorrow morneing Eight of the
Clock
Thursday 27th Aprill 1704.
The house again mett, being called over were present as
yesterday
Ordered that the gent Members of this house that are in
Towne be sent for vizt. Major Charles Greenberry and Mr
Peter Dent. Appeared
Ordered Coll Smith, Coll Hynson and Mr Tilghman giue
theire Imediate attendance
The house proceeds to Debate the Severall Paragraphs in
his Excellency's Speech
Ist The allowance to his Excellency the Governr being in
debate its resolved, nemine contradicente that the act for three
pence p hhd be confirmed and granted to his Excellency John
Seymour Esquire our present Governeur dureing the Tyme
of his present Governement and noe longer
Mr Speaker and Mr Loyd presents to the house an answr
to his Excellencyes Speech, which was here read, and ordered
to be entred as followes
