314 Assembly Proceedings, October 26-29, 1703.

Original
Journal.

Gentlemen
Col Blakiston our Agent has advised that her Majesty has
been pleased to appoint Col John Seymour to be our Gov-
erneur, and that he designed to Leave England in July or
August last in hopes to arrive here early this Month and had
desired that the Delegates of Assembly as well as her Ma:ty's
Council might be convened in Assembly before the Winter set
in Wherefore the Expectation of his Excellency's arrival &
that we might meet & Congratulate him is the chiefest occa-
sion of summoning this Assembly to give their attendance at
this Time. And now seeing his Excellency is not yet arrived
we recommend to the making a Computation of the publick
Charge as the most necessary thing now to be done, and
suppose it will be the most Easily done by a Committee and
believe that all other Matters may be deferred 'till it pleases
God his Excellency arrives with us unless Gentn you know
of any Business of Moment for her Majesty's Service or
that the Interest of her Subjects and Peace and Welfare of
the Province requires your immediate Consideration & Debate
in which we shall readily Joyn with your House otherwise
detain you no longer than is requisite for assessing the pub-
lick Levy or appointing a Committee to accomplish it Which
We Leave to your prudent Consideration, and Desire your
advice & assistance therein, And that you will also Enquire
if any temporary Laws will expire for want of reviving & if
so that a Bill may be prepared to that End
Mr Speaker & Members took Leave & repaired to their
House
