To his Excellency Nathaniel Blakiston Esqr Capt General
and Governour in chief in and over his Majesty's Province

p. 209

of Maryland

We the Members of his Majesty's Council of this Province
having been acquainted by your Excellency that upon occa-
sion of your Indisposure of health since you have been among
us, your Excellency has requested and obtained his Majesty's
Leave to return for England for Recovery thereof, cannot
hold ourselves Excused from Expressing to you the Extream
Sorrow and regrett we have upon your Excellency's Depar-
ture from us We must ever acknowledge the great Ease
& Happiness we have constantly enjoyed in your just mod-
erate generous & equitable Treatment, not only of ourselves
but all his Majesty's Subjects of this Province under your
Government, which we and they are always obliged in Grati-
tude to declare having Enjoyed so great a happiness thereby :
We should be heartily glad that the State of your Excellency's
Health would permitt your longer stay among us, which we
are very well assured would be both for the Interest of his
Majesty and the great Benefit & Satisfaction of the Inhabit-
ants : As for ourselves in particular, we give your Excel-
lency our hearty thanks so justly due for the many Favours
and kind Friendships your Excellency has on all occasions
been pleased to Express to us, and if we can no longer be
so happy as to Enjoy the Advantage and Pleasure of your
Excellency's Continuance amongst us, we must tho with
great Reluctance Submitt, to what may best Conduce to your
Excellency's Health & Advantage and beg you will give us
Leave to assure you that our best wishes for your Excellency's
Prosperity and Welfare shall ever attend you and we shall

ever think our selves happy to demonstrate with how much
affection and obligation we are
