Journal.

Together with the two Bills read last night for Relief of
Kent & Calvert Countys and confirming a certain writing to
be the last Will & Testament of Edwd Mann and the Secre-
tary's Petition about Ordinarys
Came Major Dent & Mr Lloyd from the House to desire
a Conference of Some Members of their House with some
Members of the Council upon the Bill proposed for Establish-
ment of religious Worship within this Province which Con-
ference was readily granted when the House Shall think fitt,
Col Addison Col Courts Mr Brook and Col Hammond

appointed to Conferr with the members assigned by the
House
Read their Lordships the right honourable the Lords Com-
missioners of Trade and Plantations Letter to his Excellency
of the 14th of August 1701 with their Excellencys the Lords
Justices order for the Separate Jack to be worn by such com-
manders of private men of War as shall be Commissionated
by this Governmt no such Commission having been granted
in this Province when any are, Care shall be taken their
Excellcys the Lords Justices Commands shall be complyed with
Read their Lordships Letter of the 20th Augt 1701 and as
to that part about transmitting the names of 12 Persons
always to lie before their Lordships to supply the vacancies
in the Council.
This Board thinks fit to represent the following Persons to
his Excellency to be recommended to their Ldships viz.
Lieutt Col. Thos Smithson Kenelm Cheseldyn Esqr Lieutt
Col Thos Smith, Col Thos Ennals Mr William Coursey, Mr
John Hall Mr Seth Biggs Capt Philip Hoskins Major Wal-
ter Smith Mr William Hutchinson, Mr Samuel Young and
Mr William Harris, and as to their characters this Board
can give no other than that those Gentlemen have been
long Livers in the Country are men of good Estates Ex-
perienced and well affected to his Ma:ty and this Government.
As to the other Clause relating to the Governours and the
members of the Council who sit in the Court of Chancery
not taking Oaths for the due Execution of Justice in that
Court upon which his Excellency and the members of the
Council present had administred unto them the usual Oaths

taken by the Judges of that Court
The Board adjourned 'till two of the Clock in the afternoon.

Came Mr Chiseldyne with 10 other Members from the
House with the Bill for religious Worship in this Province
