that purpose.
Ordered by the house that John Debinter of Dorchester
County for naturallizacon of himselfe and children pay the

Ordinance for a powder house.




By the house of Delegates May 1701.

May it please your Excy

Whereas it hath been thought necessary by this house that
there be a convenient place provided for a publick Store for
Powder &c It is Resolved that a house be built for that pur-
pose 15 foot long and ten foot wide, framed eight foot pitch
to stand on cedar or Locust blocks one foot from the ground,
the ground sills and sleepers to be of white oak, the floore to
be well Layd with Inch pine plank nailed downe with twenty
penny the roofe covered with inch pine plank ciphered one
inch or more well nailed on with 20d nails to be well studded
weather boarded and Gable ended with inch pine plank nailed
on with 20d nailes the holes between the plate and the roofe
to be filled up with brick and mortar. One substantiall Dore
Groved in, hung with Iron hinges fitted & fixed well with a
good Stock lock and key and the roofe to be well covered
with cypress Shingles on the plank all which this house have
agreed to have well done strong and tite workmanlike by
Mr Richd Beard for twenty pounds in money who have obliged
himselfe to performe the Same worke wth the blessing of God,
by the Last of August next: If your Excy shall please to con-
cur therewith.

Which being here read and sent up to his Excy the Govr
and Councill by Mr Samll Young Collo Wm Holland, Mr John
Hall, Mr Philip Lynes, Mr John Lecompt and Mr Thomas
Hamond together with the last mentioned bills.

The Returne and Say they delivered the Same.

Upon mocon made to the house pr Mr Wm Bladen, It is
ordered by the house that Mr Samuell Young publick Treas-
urer for the the Western Shore Supplye Mr William Bladen
