laid upon tobo: Exported as being the least burthensome
to the poore and neecessitous people of the province and
scarcely pcptable to those who are capable of Shipping tob:
whereby the publick Charge of the province will be the
Easier defrayed.

Which being read it is putt to the question wheither the
3d p hhd addiconall Duty be raised for defraying the publick
charge or not.
Carryed by majority of votes that an adll duty of 3d p hhd
may be advanced towards paymt of the public charge of the
province.
And ordered that the Comittee of Laws prepare a bill for
that purpose.
And ordered that an answer to the aforesd, Message be
drawne up and sent to his Excy and Councill for that purpose.
The house adjournes till 2 a Clock in the Afternoone.
Post Merediem. The house mett againe and were called
over. prsent as in the morning only Mr Jno Lowe sick.
The peticon of Majr Wm Barton Sher: of Prince Georges
Coty for an allowance for imprisonmt fees for a servt boy in
his Custody read and ordered Majr Barton be called into the
house. Who appeared and is Desired to Explaine his peticon
which was received and is ordered to withdraw, and the
peticon was againe read and Debated.
It is the opinion of this house that the Sher: be Satisfied
for his imprisont fees from the time that the said Servt boy
was comitted untill his Mastr disclaimed him.
But put to the question whether Prince Georges Coty shall
pay the fees or the burthen thereof be bourne by the publick.
Carried by the Majority of voices that Prince Georges County
ought to make sattisfaction for the said imprisonment fees.
And it is resolved by the house that Prince Georges County
pay the said fees to the Sherriff from the time he was legally
comitted to his Custody till the mar of the said Boy disclaimed
him.
Collo Edward Loyd, Mr James Saunders Mr Jno Wight, Mr
Wm. Parker, Capt John ffrancklyn Mr Jacob Lookerman,
Majr James Smallwood sent up to his Excy and Councill with
the following bills, viz.
A Bill for Speedy obtayning executions &c.
A Bill to encourage the importacon of Coyne, and an Ordi-
nance concerning Indian Lands.
