with twenty penny nails the roofe Covered with Inch pine
plank Cipherd one inch or more well nailed on with 20d nailes
to be well Studded weather boarded and Gable ended with inch
pine plank well nailed on with 20d nailes the holes between
the plate and roofe well filled up with brick and mortar and
substantiall Dove Groved in well hung with Iron hinges close
fitted, fixed with a good Stock lock and Key all which is to be
well done strong tite and worke manlike by Mr Richard Beard
for twenty pounds in money. The roofe to be well covered
with Cyprus Shingles on the plankes.
Which being here considered Mr Beard is desired to come
in. He enters the house and being demanded of Mr Speaker
whether he will undertake the work in the Report mentconed,
who answered that he would pforme the worke and readily
Complyed with the Agreement made with the Comittee for
twenty Pounds in money and oblidges himselfe to Compleat
and finish the said worke by the Last of Augt next. And
ordered that an ordinance be drawne up for tht ppose.
The house adjournes till to-morrow morning 7 a Clock.

Dies Veneris May 16th 1701.

The house mett againe all called over present as Yester-
day.
A Bill for more Speedy obtayning execucons &c. read the
2d time and will pass.
A Bill to encourage the Importing Coine, read the 2d time
and will pass.
On mocon of Mr Phillip Lynes it is ordered that Mr Benja
Hall be added to the Comittee to inspect Mr Lynes acct &c.
Message by Thomas Tench Esqr and Collo Addison was
read viz : —

By his Excy the Governr and Councill in Assembly
May 15th 1701.

Since by a paragraph of the Letter from the Rt honble the
Lords Comrs of Trade and plantacons &c: of the 3d of De-
cember last laid before you, you cannot but observe their
friendly advice to us that we should appoint some quallified
pson to be our agent in England there to Sollicite what pub-
lick business we shall desire to be successively dispatched, we
are desireous to know what resolucon your house have there-
upon.
