Journal.

1701 wherein he Comunicates to his Excellency that himselfe
& Colo Quary had some Discourse & thought it very Neces-
sary to Send Cap' Cood to Cruise in Delaware Bay in the
time of the worm, which they thought would do his Maty Sig-
nall Service in discovering and detecting illegal Traders, And
to Prevent the Proceedings of Several who it is thought have
now Embarqued in an illegall Trade and have allready laid
their Designes for Carrying on the Same and desiring his Ex-
cellencys Advice thereupon.
His Excellency with the Advice of his Matys honble Coun-
cill of State do highly approve of the Same and Concurr in
the same opinion

His Excellency is pleased to request his Excy the Governor
of Virginia that in Case any Convoys Arrive to carry home
the Ships now in the Country for England that his Said
Excellency would be pleased Imediatly to dispatch an Express
hither to give Notice thereof, the Charge whereof shall be
thankfully Satisfied by this Province.
The Board Adjourned till 8 of the Clock to Morrow morning.

Came from the house Major William Dent with 4 other
Members and bring the following Messages Viz.

By the house of Delegates
May the 14th 1701.

May it please Your Excellency
The Consideration of the Petition of King and Queen
Parish and William and Mary Parish for dividing the Parishes
lye before this house and being read this house have referred
the Dividing the Parishes till next Sessions of Assembly that
this house may have more light therein and as to the other
Part of the Petition this House humbly pray your .Excellency
to interpose your Authority and that Mr White Mentioned
in the Petition may be paid the 40 lb of Tobbacco p pole or
some Equivalent Satisfaction for the time of his Service in the
Uper Part of King and Queen Parish in Charles County and
that your Excellency would please to Compell the Vestry of
that Parish to render an Account of the 40 lb of Tobbacco p
poll to your Excellcy or some Persons that your Excellency
will Please to Substitute for that Purpose
