By the house of Delegates May the 13th 1701

May it please your Excellency.
This house having taken into Consideration the Message
of the 13th Instant by Thomas Tench Esq Colo Addison,

Thomas Brook Esqr and Colo John Hammond relating to the

free School as to that Part wherein it is recomended to this
house to consider how the best use may be made of the School
House and that Care may be taken of a Convenient Place for
the Council to sitt in &c.
The house have resolved to refer the Same to the Considera-
tion of the next Sessions of Assembly, And as to that part
wherein it is desired That a handsome place may be provided
to lodge the publick Arms in, This house Answers that they
have purchased houses of Major Edward Dorsey for that Pur-
pose and it was Ordered that a Comittee should be appointed
to go and View the said houses and reporte what repairs it
wants and the Estimate of such repaires, likewise agree with
any Persons that are willing to undertake the repairing there-
of and make the same fitt for such uses, which Comittee re-
ported to the house what repaires are necessary for to make the
houses Serviceable and that Mr Richard Beard Willingly will
undertake the said work for twelve pounds Sterl to be finished
by the last of August next if yor Excy please to concur there-
with.

The said Major Dent also brings up three Bills from the
house of Delegates Viz.

A Bill investing a Tract of Land in Dorothy Stephens sold
her by Symon Wilmer to her and her heirs forever which was
read the first & second Times & will Pass.
A Bill for Investing a Tract of Land in the Vestry of St
James's Parrish which was read the first & Second times and
will Pass.
A Bill for Naturalization of Peter Scampor and others which
was read twice and will Pass if they be not french Papists.
Which said Bills were sent Back to the house by Robert
Smith and Francis Jenkins Esqr
His Excellency Imparts to the Board That whereas he has
recd Information That a Certein Indian belonging to the Em-
peror of Piscattaway (some say his brother) has been to Apply
him selfe to Mr Pen at Philadelphia who seemed to be inclin-
able to receive him into his Province wherefore in as much as
it cannot att present be known what ill Consequences may
happen to this Province from their removal thither, whether it
