Herewith is sent you an Account of a late Treaty with the
Indians by which they seeme to desire the Friendshipp of the
English and to returne to the Land they went from.
Upon this Subject you are desired to Consider Ist whether
it be not propper to renew the former Ordinance for deciding
any petty Quarrells between the Indians and adjacent English
by appointing two Judicious persons near them for that pur-
pose being what his Excellcy hath promised them.
2dly Whether it is advisable to continue the Rangers on
the Frontiers after the Indians shall come in and Settle or
not, and if continued what Number, and here Wee must
inform You that his Exncy hath thought fitt the last Winter to
lessen the number from twenty to tenn Which has saved the
Country a considrable Charge and Expence.
3dly If the said Rangers do returne and settle as before
whether it may not be advisable to cause that new built Fort
to be demolished for prevention either of these or any other
Indians resetling the same, and that you will concert the
Method of doing and bearing the Charge thereof.
4thly In reguard these Indians are not yet actually come in,
whether it be not advisable to appoint a Standing Comittce
of Your house to joyne wth his Exncy and Councill for the
Safety of the Province in Case of any Emergency as formerly.
