Journal.

Ordered that some of the Arms which his Excellcy sent for
be brought for this Board to View.
The said Arms being brought were Viewed and well ap-
proved of, And this Board advise that an hundred more be
sent for vizt fifty musquetts & fifty Slung Carabines with flat
Locks the Barrells Sanguined. Advised that George Plater
& George Muschamp Esq his Matys Receivers remitt what
mony they have in their hands upon Acct of the 3d for Arms
to Mr Rowland Tryon Mercht in London to be lodged in his
hands and disposed of for purchasing Arms Afnunition &c.
for the Use of this Province according to the Directions of his
Exncy and this Boarde.
Also advised that Seaven Small Gunns and four Union
Flaggs be sent for and purchased out of the 3d p hhd That
Wee may shew our Loyall Reguards to his Maty upon his
Birth Day, and hoist a fflagg to any Ship that comes in the
harbour.
Then did this Boarde Enter into Debate concerning the
Indians and Sent Mr Frisby and Colonel Hamond to the
House with the following Proposall

By the Govr and Councill in Assembly
Aprill 30th 1700

Herewith is sent you an Account of a late Treaty with the
Indians by which they seeme to desire the Friendshipp of the
English and to returne to the Land they went from.
Upon this Subject you are desired to Consider Ist whether
it be not propper to renew the former Ordinance for deciding
any petty Quarrells between the Indians and adjacent English
by appointing two Judicious persons near them for that pur-
pose being what his Excellcy hath promised them.
2dly Whether it is advisable to continue the Rangers on
the Frontiers after the Indians shall come in and Settle or
not, and if continued what Number, and here Wee must
inform You that his Exncy hath thought fitt the last Winter to
lessen the number from twenty to tenn Which has saved the
Country a considrable Charge and Expence.
3dly If the said Rangers do returne and settle as before
whether it may not be advisable to cause that new built Fort
to be demolished for prevention either of these or any other
Indians resetling the same, and that you will concert the
Method of doing and bearing the Charge thereof.
4thly In reguard these Indians are not yet actually come in,

whether it be not advisable to appoint a Standing Comittce

of Your house to joyne wth his Exncy and Councill for the
Safety of the Province in Case of any Emergency as formerly.
