he has not as yet been able to procure by reason the Con-
stables & others appointed to take such Lists are so ignorant
and illiterate; but has now sent a specimen to each Sherriffe
directing how the said Lists should be taken.
Whereupon Ordered that the sevrall Sherriffs do take Effec-
tuall Care to returne to his Excy such List it being impossible
to be effected by the Constables of this Province who are gen-
erally poor people that can neither write nor read.
Then was read his Matys Royal Cofnands of the tenth of

Journal.

Novemb last relating to Pyrates as also the Lords Comrs of
Trade and Plantations Letter to his Exncy of the thirtieth of Nov-
ember on Covert to the said Order.
Came Dr Lookerman and Mr Hicks who bring the following
Message from the House.

By the House of Delegates
April the 29th 1700.

This house having read and pused as well the last Message
by the honble Colonel Henry Jowles and Col Charles Hutchins
as alsoe the Ordr of his late Maty relating to running out a
Divisionall Lyne between the Right honble the Lord Baltemore
and the Honble Willm Penn Esqr And the house having taken
it into Considracon humbly conceive that the Publick of this
Province ought not to be at any part of the Charge in running
this Line.
Wee returne Your Exncy our Thanks for comunicating that
Paragraph of the Earle of Bellomont's Lre relating to the In-
dians, which was also read in this house, And Wee have noe
apprehension of any Danger from the Enemy yet upon all Occa-
sions Wee shall be ready to with what shall be necessary

The said Dr Lookerman and Mr Hicks prsent Mr Philemon
Lloyd as a Delegate of Talbott County, Who took the Oaths
appointed by Act of Parliamt instead of the Oaths of Allegiance
and Supremacy and Subscribed the Test & Association.
Came Mr George Plater Navll Officer at Puttuxent and
made Oath of his Accts of Country Duties by him recd.
The Board add untill 8 to mor morning.
