Journal.

That the Sloop was Cast away by stress of Weather is
remitted.
The Petition of the Inhabitants of West Elk and Bohemiah
hundred read Complaining of the Neglect of their Minister
Mr Sewell read & referred to James Frisby Esqr and Colo
John Thompson to Inquire into & make their Reporte to his
Excellency the Governor.
Came Major Dent with the following Message from the
house vizt

p. 22

By the house of Delegates May the 13th 1701

The house taking into Consideration what Part or Portion
of the three pence per hhd may be Sufficient for fixing &
Cleansing Arms &c.
Cannot proceed to any Resolve till this house have some
knowledge what Arms are in the Province, therefore humbly
pray That your Excellency will please to Command the Clerk
of the honble Councill to lay before this house an Accompt
of what Publick Arms are in the Country and what number
in each County are lodged.
Signed p order W: Taylard Cl House Del.

The which being read ordered that Mr Thomas Tench &
Mr Thomas Brooke go to the house with the following
Answer viz.

By his Excellency the Governor & Councill in Assembly
May the 13th 1701.

In answer to the Houses message by Majr Dent, It is de-
sired That you will send three or four of your Members to
Joine with two of his Matys Councill to Conferr thereupon.

Came Colo William Holland, Colo James Smallwood & Col
Thomas Ennalls from the house with the following Message
vizt

By the house of Delegates May the 13th 1701.

Upon Reporte to this house of the Effect of the Conference
upon that Subject mentioned of the 9th Instant by the Honble
Thomas Tench Esqr &c.
Resolved that the said Laws remaine under the present
Establishment till his Matys Pleasure shall be known therein
