tine whole Course of Whose Governmt proclaims his Good-
ness to his subjects Neither have we any fear of yor Excel-
lency's Perverting his Matys Instructions. We Acknowledge

you have represented his Matys Clemency & Discreetly man-
aged the Prerogative and are truly Sensible of our own hap-
piness under your Excellency's Government of which we
heartily wish the Continuance
About the affairs that may happen to be Considered of
this Sessions; Since your Excellency Leaves it to us we will
be willing to proceed in the usuall ways of Conference and
Message and Desire to Decline all Strife and Contention
without any Jealousy or suspition with one heart to promote
his Matys Service, from which the true Interrest of this Prov-
ince canot be sepate.
Whereupon was sent to the house.

By his Excellency the Governor and Council in Assembly
Aprill 27th 1700
Gentn
You haveing not onely Ingeniously but So Candidly Ex-
prest yourselves in Answer to what his Excellency was Yeas-
terday pleased to say to you (which is here very kindly recd)
this Board Cannot have any Apprehentions but that you
will Cheerfully Exert your utmost Endeavours this Session
to Approve yor selves worthy of the Honor & happiness

you have to profess yourselves Good Christians and his
Matys faithfull Subjects and therein first to Consult the Honor
and Glory of God.
Whereupon his Excellency is pleased to recom end to your
Consideration his most Sacred Matys order in Councill here-
with sent you And that you would Apply Yourselves to
Concert Such rules & Measures as may best Establish and
Secure to you and Your Posteritys your Religion (which
att Present by the said Order Seems to be Alltogether
unhinged) and make such Reasonable Laws therefore as
may not meet the least Objection in Passing his Matys
Royal Assent.
