Then read the Petition of Mr Gerrard Slye of St Mary's
County Craveing the Consideration of the Assembly for
some Damages he susteined in the late Revolution by burning
his houses, and Entreating the Explanation of the Assembly
as to the Act of Limittation in Book Debts &c during his
Absence in England.
The said Petition is referred to the Consideracon of the
House of Delegates.
His Excellency is pleased to represent to the Board that
whereas there are two Persons in Prison now under Sentence
of Death for Burglary, and forasmuch as he is informed this
is the first time they have come upon the Stage for such Mis-
demeanors and that what they have Stollen is but a Trifle
Whether his Matys Mercy & Grace should be extended to them.
Whereupon the Board are of Opinion and do Advise that
in Case his Exncy should be informed of any other evil Practices
Comitted or done by them that the Execution be not Suspen-
ded but that they be executed for that so many Burglarys are
Dayly comitted in this Province that it is absolutely necessary
some publiq Example should be made to deterr others from
the like Crimes for the future.
Then was Sent to the House the following Message by Col
