Lib. H. D. Workmen thereabout; who are now preparing all things Neces sary for a quick dispatch; And hoping so good and pious a Work for the Liberall Education of Youth in these Remote and unpollished parts of the World may meet with Severall prsons within his Mats Kingdom of England inclinable to pro mote and forward the Same (especially all merchts holding cor respondence here) by their Charitable Guifts and donations to it, when acquainted therewith; And fforasmuch as the sd Governrs and Trustees have by an Ordr passed the day and Year abovesd fully Authorized and Empower'd his Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Esq Capt Genll and Governr in Cheif of his Mats sd Province, Sr Thomas Laurence Baront Secryr and Majr Edward Dorsey three of the sd Trustees for to Act and do in behalf of the rest, as also to Receive any Guifts or benevo !ences wch shall be given and Bestowed for and towards Building the sd Schole or Scholes and a Church within this Port; Now these prsents Witness that We the ffrancis Nich olson Esq, Sr Thomas Laurence Baront & Majr Edward Dorsey do (by virtue of the Power aforesd Unto us given) hereby Authorize and impower Mr Thomas Hastwell of London Mercht in the Kingdom of England; To be our Lawfull Attorney in this behalf, for to Act and do and in our Names to Receive any Sume or Sums of money or other benevolences, which Shall at any time be given by any prsons of what Ranck or degree soever within his Mats Kingdom of England to the Vses aforesd as fully and Amply as if the Same had Actually been Received by Us; And we do hereby likewise intreat and desire the Sd Thomas Hastwell Gent to be so farr aiding and assisting in this Affair as to procure what gratui ties or Benevolences he Can towards the Erecting and Sup port of the sd Schole or Scholes and building the Church aforesd Ratifying and confirming for good whatsoever our Attorney Shall legally doe in the prmises. In Witness whereof, We the sd ffrancis Nicholson Sr Thomas Laurence, and Edward Dorsey have hereunto set our hands and Seals this 17th day of March in the Ninth Year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord King William the Third &Ca Annoq Domini 1696/7.
