    St Pauls    At a Court held at Benedict Leonard town the Lib. H. D.

      Parish Prince

      Georg's Co 14th day of ffebry in the Year of our Lord God

    Bounds thereof   1692 and in the Year of the Reign of our

              Soveraign Lord and Lady King William and

     

      Queen Mary by the Grace of God King and Queen of England p. 479

      Scotland ffrance and Ireland Defenders of the ffaith &ca by the

      Justices thereunto authorized and appointed together with the

      most principle ffreeholders thereunto Called for the laying out of

      the Parishes on the West Side of Petuxant River in Ca!vert

      County being in obedience to an Act of Assembly Entituled an

      Act for the Service of Almighty God and the Establishmt of

      the Protestant Religion in this province made at the City of

      St Maries the 10th day of May Annoq Dom 1692.

     

           Prsent

      Mr Tho: Tasker Mr John Bigger         Mr James Keech

      Mr Tho: Holliday Mr ffran: Hutchins   Mr W Parker Commrs

                              Mr ffrancis ffreeman

     

        It is Agreed on, and concluded by the Justices above named

      and by the Principall freeholders at the time and place abovesd

      mett together Vizt That from the Upper part of Mount Calvert

      hundred to the main Branch of Swanstons Creek be in one

      Parish the Church for the sd Parish being already built at

      Charles Town called by the Name af St Paules.

         Mr Tho: Holliday    Mr Samll Magruder

     

        A true Copy of the abovesd proceedings taken of the

      Records of St Pauls Parish p Edward Willett Clerk of the

      abovesd Vestry.

     

        Extract of a Letter from Sir Thomas Lawrence to the Board P. R. o.

      of Trade                                    Maryland, 3.

     

     

     

                   Anapolis March 25th 1697.

     

        Here I found his Excellency in good health, carrying on a

      fair house, for the publick Administration of Justice, and all

      the offices of business in the Country; a fine brick building

      which will now be accompanied with a fine Church which will

      cost 1000 ll, and a publick School 500 li both now in hand and

      our Contributions ready; But the Reversal of the two Acts for

      Establishing of Religion and the Free Schools, had put our

      Assembly so out of humour, That if his excellency had not
