         Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98. 77

    

       On back of the above Proclamation issued to the Severall Lib. H. D.

     Counties was thus written, Vizt

    

    

       I do hereby in his Mats Name Comand that the Sherriff of p. ‘°7

     each respective County with all convenient Speed possibly

     that may be; shew the within Proclamation to the Clerk of

     each respective Parish within their County and I do in his

     Mat, name Comand the Clerk of each parish to take a true

     Copy of this Proclamation and make a Record of the Same

     among the rest of their parish proceedings and this my

     Proclamation is to be kept by the Clerk of the County.

       I do also in his Mats Name Command that the Vestry of

     each respective parish Return me under their hands by the

     next Provinciall Court or sooner a true and full Accot of what

     great Church Bibles, Comon Prayer Books & Books of

     Homilies they have & how they Came by thm as also if they

     have now Recd: from me as a Guift to their Parish ffour

     Ordinary Bibles ffour of the Reverend Doctr William's Cate

     chisms Stitch't, as also four of his Lawfullness of Comon

     Prayer worship &ca Stitch't and one whole Duty of Man, and

     if they did not Receive one of the Reverend Dr Brays Cate

     cheticall Lectures; all persons to whom this is directed are

     not to faile to Comply with these my Commands, as they

     will answer the contrary at their perill; Given under my hand

     the day and Year of the Date of this Proclamation

       I would have waited on you my Self according to his Exncys

     Ordr for the Sadles and Armes but that I am at prsent very

     lame; I desire they may be delivered to the Bearer James

     Waple; also 1000 ffiints: 2 Spades 2 pick axes; with 20 lb of

     Powder & 40 lb Bullet and Swan Shott: and this with his

     Receipt Shall Oblige me to be Accountable for the Same,

       Power to receive Gifts appointed for the Erecting and Endowing Gram

     Scholes &Ca a meeting and Consultacon held at the Port of

    

    

     Annapolis the tenth day of October last past taken into Con- p. 478

     sideracon and Actually Agreed upon Building a House for a

     ffree Schole within the sd Port and have already Engaged
