selves severall ways and some of them finding a little hutt Lib. H. D. thereabouts which four of our Brothers had made for their conveniency of hunting they immediately surrounded it where they Surprized three of the Brothers (the ffourth being out a hunting) and straitway tyed them soon after the ffourth Brother returning and Coming Nere the sd hutt heard a noise which he apprehended to be the ffrench Onnogunge Indians and tht their House was cutt off upon which he made the best of his way to Hatfield where there was then 20: or thirty of their Women and children whom he inform'd that his three Comerads were killd by the Enemy. In the mean time the English tyed two of the Brothers to a tree and whipt them severely to make them confess the youngest first being abt thirteen or ffourteen Years of Age named Pamaranessit twice he possitively told them he knew nothing of the matter they took him a third time and lashed him soe cruelly that he was not able to live under it so to ffree himself from such con tinuall punishmt he Cryed out and say'd it was the Brother p. 469 that was out a hunting that did the mischeif upon which informacon they ceased from Whipping him any longer and upon the Conifession of the Boy the English calld the prin cipall of the Morekans and Say'd unto thm you would not believe these Indians had done this murder but Come and hear their own conifession whereupon they replyed its true the boy confesses but its forced from him by the severity of the Strockes he has Received. After this the English whipt Quinepack (aged abt 30 Years) very Severely to make him also Confess the same but he Answer'd them you may whip me as long as you please, I am not a boy as the other but a Soldier We serve the same God, if you'l take my blood upon you, you may kill me if you please or burn me in the ffire; it shall not make me confess a false thing. The English and their parties returning to hatfeild found Marrinus (abt 23 Years of Age that Brother which had been out a hunting there who was Accused by the Boy whom they immediately pinnoned together with Manquocklas (one of the three Brothers taken in the Hutt (about 20 Years of Age) and Caryed them to Hadley where they tyed both the Brothers to a tree with a linnen cloath over their Eyes. The English used many ways to fforce a confession from them but they always answer'd we are innocent and if you'l take our blood upon you we are Contended; and so they were both Shot to Death.
