       firmly by these prsents Wittness our hands and Seals the Lib. H. D.

       day of October 1698

         The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas

       his Excy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr aforesd hath Comissionated &

       Appointed the above bound George Plater Esqr to be Naval p. 225

       officer of the Porte of Patuxent wthin the sd Province by his

       Comission bearing Equall Date Wth these prsents. Now if the

       sd George Plater shall well and truly pforme the sd Office

       According to the Sevrall Acts of Parliamt in that Case made

       & provided and shall observe the directions Contained in the

       Acts of Assembly of this Province relateing to the Duty of

       Navll Officers And from time to time Save Defend and keep

       harmless the sd ffra: Nicholson Esqr from all Damages loss &

       Charges that the sd ffra: Nicholson shall Susteine att any time

       by reason of the sd Plater's non pformance of his sd Office so

       long as he shall enjoy the Same as is in the Sevrall Laws

       Enacted & Ordained then this Obligation to be Voyd or else

       to remaine in full force & Virtue

         The Condition of this Oligation in Such that Whereas the

       above named George Plater is by his Excy ffrancis Nicholson

       Esqr Capt gen” and Governr in Chiefe of his Matys Province

       of Maryland and Territoryes thereto belonging appointed and

       Commissionated to be Navll Officer of the Porte of Putuxent

       According to the direction of a Certeine Act of Parliarnt

       Entituled an Act for the Encouragemt of trade made in the

       15th year of the reigne of our late Sovreigne Lord King p. 226

       Charles the Second of blessed memory now if So be the sd

       George Plater shall well & faithfully pforme his Duty in the

       sd Office in all things thereunto belonging Then this Obliga.
