D. in the ffive and Twentieth Year of the Reign of King Charles the Second, Intituled an Act for Encouragemt of the Eastland and Greenland Trades, and for better securing the P]antacon Trade, And in Pursuance of the Authority and Direction to us given by the Rt Honrble the Lords Commrs of his Mats Treasury Deputed and Empower'd, And doe hereby Depute and Impower Peter Jenings Esq to be Collr of all the Rates and Duty's Imposicons arising and Growing due to his Maty at Potuxen River in his Mats Province of Maryland, By Virtue of the sd act, Whereby he hath Power to Enter into any Ship, Bottom Boat or other Vessell, As also into any Shopp, House, Ware House, Hostery or other place whatsoever, to make Diligent Search into any Trunck, Chest, Pack, Case, Truss, or any other Parcell or Package whatsoever, ffor any Goods Wares or Merchandizes Prohibited to be Imported or Exported, or whereof the Customs or other Duties have not been duly paid, And the same to Seize to his Mats Use and also to put in Execution all other the Lawfull Powers & Authority's for the better Manageing and Collecting the Dutys, in all things proceeding as the Law Directs Hereby praying and Requiring all and every his Mats Officers and Ministers and all others whom it may Concern, to be Aiding and Assisting to him in all things as becometh Given under our hands and Seal at the Custom-House London This Twenty ffirst day of Novem. inthe Ninth year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord King William the Third &ca Annoq Domini 1696. Mr Jenings Whereas his Maty by Commission under the Commission from the Prin- Great Seal of England hath made Constituted and cipal Comrs for Appointed Us to be Principal Commrs for the Prizes for being their Care & Managemt of all such Ships, Goodes and Agent here in merchandizes, as are have been or shall be taken Maryland . . . . or Seized for Prize; during Hostility with the ffrench King thereby Giving Us or any three or more of Us ffull Power & Authority by Commission under our hands and Seal, with the Approbation of the Rt honrble the Lords Commrs of his Mats Treasury to Substitute such, and So many Persons, as are Necessary to be Employed in and about the Service And we having rëcd their Lordships Warrant in that behalfe doe by Virtue of the sd Commission Constitute and Appoint you Peter Jenings Esq and you are hereby Constituted and appointed, Agent for all Prizes that are,
