472 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. X. themselves to some Magistrate in this Prove in order to their being brought to Trial according to Law & in case they shall not Surrender themselves within twenty one days from the date of this Proclamation but stand & remain in Contempt of the Laws & authority of this Prove I do in his Majestys name command all and singular his Majestys Officers & Ministers civil & military & other his Majestys good Subjects to discover & apprehend the said Philip Clark & John Cood wheresoever found in this his Majestys Province & to carry him or them before some Iustice of peace or chief Magistrate who is hereby enjoyned to commit him or them to the custody of the Sheriff of the County where taken, who is immediately to send an accot thereof to me his Majestys Governor of this Province and to the end the said persons & their wicked seditious & rebellious practices & designs may be further discovered, & laid Open, all persons whatsoever which are or have been known or privy to such their wicked & Disloyal designs & practices are hereby in his Majestys name Commended & required further to make a full discovery under their hands before some Justice of his Majestys Provincial Court who is hereby directed to take their Depositions therein upon pain to all such persons so knowing or privy thereto & not full p. ioi discovery thereof of being so taken as parties therein & when found out hereafter to be prosecuted against according to Law And I do hereby further declare & publish that as I am heartily sorry there has been so much just & Lawful Occasion given for summoning of so many persons hither to give their depositions for discovery of the wicked & evil Practices & attempts aforesaid so would have all Persons to take caution hereby to avoid giving the like Occasion for the future by associating themselves or Combining with them under this assurance that it is neither their Number quality or Conditions that shall excuse them from being prosecuted against accord ing to Law And for the Encouragement of all such his Majstys Loyal Subjects that shall endeavour the peace quiet and Wellfare of this his Majestys province by apprehending & seizing the said Philip Clark & Iohn Cood Senr in case they shall not surren der themselves to Justice as hereby they are required, such persons shall as a Reward therefore for the apprehending them or either of them receive as a Reward the Sum of twenty pounds Sterling for each of them Lastly I do hereby command the several Sheriffs of this province to proclaim & publish this my proclamation in all Churches Chapels Court houses & other publick places of resort within their several Counties
