      to publish discover & make known the same to the next Mag- Lib. X

      istrate that so the Offenders may be proceeded against accord

      ing to Law & to the end that all persons may have due

      Notice hereof I do hereby Command the several Sheriffs of

      the several Countys within this Province duly to publish &

      proclaim this my Proclamation in all Churches Chappels &

      all other publick places of Meeting within their Respective

      Countys Given at the Town & Port of Annapolis under the

      Broad Seal of this Province this 23d day of July in the Tenth

      Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord Wm the third by the

      Grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland King i.

      Defender of the Faith &Ca Annoq Dni 1698

             By his Excellency the Capt Genl &c

                       A Proclamation

       It having manifestly appeared unto me in Council by several

      Depositions & other credible Testimonies that Philip Clark

      Robert Mason Gerrard Sly & John Cood Sent with others not

      yet discovered have lately had frequent Consultations & Meet

      ings Rebelliously Endeavouring to Disturb & disquiet this his

      Majestys Government & to Seduce and withdraw the minds

      & affections of his Majestys good Subjects from their obedi

      ence due to this Govt by his Majestys Royal Authority estab

      lished for which & other wicked & seditious practices the said

      John Cood is absconded & fled out of this Province & the

      said Philip Clark is also lately absconded & fled from Justice

      and is not to be found the said Gerrard Sly under Bonds for

      his good Behaviour & to answer the premises & the said

      Robert Mason Languishing under arrest for the same

       Therefore to the end the said disloyal & wicked Persons &

      all others adhering to them aiding assisting abetting or con

      cealing their designs & practices may be discovered & brought

      to Condigne Punishment & his Majestys Government thereby

      preserved in peace and quiet I do with the advice & Consent

      of his Majestys honble Council within this province in his

      Majestys Name command & require all his Majestys good & p. 100

      Loving Subjects in this Province to forbear to associate them

      selves Combine with abett or Conceal the said Persons or their

      Rebellious wicked designs as aforesaid as they will answer the

      Contrary at their utmost peril & to be taken to be parties in

      the Same

       And I do by this my Proclamation Command and require

      the said Philip Clark & John Cood immediately to render
